Reasons to book cheap Melbourne flights
The capital city of the Australian state of Victoria, Melbourne is located on the natural bay of Port Phillip. The city spreads into the hinterlands towards the Dandenong and Macedon mountain ranges, Yarra Valley, and Mornington Peninsula. Melbourne was affectionately called 'Marvelous Melbourne' at the time of the gold rush of the 1850s and this name is still used for this beautiful city. This city is regarded as having more examples of Victorian structural designs than any other city in the country. It is the city of all seasons and tourists can wander through its tree-lined streets and hidden laneways to its sprawling parklands and gardens.
Federation Square
Opened in 2002, Federation Square commemorates 100 years of federation. It’s an integral part of the city and is an excellent place for tourists to begin the sightseeing tour of the city. The design of Federation Square is ultra-modern and its closed spaces juxtapose the surrounding buildings built in Victoria architecture. The square hosts over 2,000 events every year and thus visitors can find entertainment in the intimate indoor venues and central outdoor performance space. It is also a home to the Ian Potter Gallery and Australian Center of the Moving Image.
Royal Botanic Gardens
Established in 1846, Royal Botanic Gardens is positioned in the center of verdant parkland extending south of the Yarra River. These gardens are rated among finest of its kind in the world. Royal Botanic Gardens are spread in an area of 40 hectares of land with with over 50,000 plants, comprising lots of rare species. Live theater is held in the summers and it is a major highlight of the garden.
Southbank and Arts Centre Melbourne
Located on the bank of the Yarra River, Southbank and Arts Centre Melbourne is a cultural attraction in Melbourne. Southbank promenade is replete with restaurants, indoor/outdoor cafes, and holds live entertainment. Every Sunday, it holds an excellent arts and crafts market.
