Reasons to Book Cheap Cebu Flights
Cebu is the main city on Cebu Island in the Philippines and is known as the Queen City of the South. Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city and first capital of the Philippines. Cebu is best known for its panoramic offerings with respect to its beautiful islands, powdery white beaches, scuba diving facilities and a little taste of its 800 year old history. It is the one of the most densely populated islands in the country but is comparatively a less polluted and more economical option than the national capital Manila.
Basilica del Santo Nino (Basilica of Santo Nino)
Literally meaning ‘Basilica of the Holy Child,’ this religious monument is home to a 16th century statue of the Santo Nino (or the Holy Child) that is regarded as the oldest religious artifact in the Philippines. It is adorned with gold and other precious stones and is encased in a glass case on the altarpiece. This statue was considered sacred because it was the only object that was found unscathed in a village that Spanish forces had set ablaze during a revolt.
Casa Gorordo Museum
Casa Gorordo Museum is a nearly 200 year old wooden mansion set in a manicured garden. Of special note here is living room of the Gorordo family, which contains a set of ornate furniture and other luxurious household items. Located close to this museum is Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, which is one of the oldest houses in the Philippines and qualifies as a must-visit.
Magellan's Cross
Magellan’s Cross is an invaluable piece of historical and religious significance in Cebu. It was planted by Ferdinand Magellan, a Spanish explorer, who had arrived here and was witnessing the Roman Catholic baptism of Rajah Humabon and his wife Queen Juana in 1521. It is housed inside an octagonal building, which is decorated on the inside with some beautiful murals.
