Bacha Khan International Airport serves the city of Peshawar. The country’s fourth busiest international airport, it is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (formerly known as North Western Frontier Province) at a 10-minutes drive from the centre of the city. Passengers can avail scheduled flights to cities of Islamabad and Karachi, and to several international cities including Medina, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Muscat and Riyadh. The airlines offering connectivity to and from the airport include Emirates, Pakistan International Airlines, Saudia, Air Arabia and Gulf Air.
A strange fact about the airport is that one end of its main runway is crossed by a railway line that runs into the Khyber Pass. The airport was previously called Peshawar International Airport and was renamed in honor of a Pashtun nationalist political leader Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan aka Bacha Khan. This airport connects national capital Islamabad to the adjoining areas of Afghanistan.
